Diapers on Motorcycles: Delivering Empowerment

At The Brave House, we believe that every mother deserves support. With the help of the Sirens Women's Motorcycle Club, we were able to distribute 8,100 diapers to the immigrant mothers we work with, providing them with a much-needed resource and a sense of empowerment... DIAPERS!

For many of the young immigrant mothers who are a part of the Brave House community, affording diapers is a tradeoff with other necessities. A baby can require over 2,000 diapers in their first year of life, and the cost can quickly add up. Having a reliable supply of diapers means less stress for moms, allowing them to focus on personal growth, relationship building with their babies, spending their resources on food and housing, and their time. Diapers are a non-negotiable essential item for every child during their infancy.

How are we delivering all these diapers?  We’ve teamed up with a women's motorcycle club, the Sirens MC, to bring diapers directly to the doorsteps of our members. The Sirens MC is a group of amazing humans dedicated to supporting women's health initiatives and the LGBTQ+ community. With their help, 15 Brave House moms in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Long Island, and the Bronx received boxes of diapers – in style!

We are also collaborating with our partners at The Family Beehive to distribute to more moms in the NYC area through women’s shelters. In addition to our diapers, our staff provided our members with goodie bags filled with diaper creams, wipes, and self-care items from our Rainbow Room.

Help us provide responsive, immediate aid (food, housing) and facilitate long-term stability and growth (therapy, leadership, friendships, and more!)
