I am still in school. Due to the instability in my home life, I wasn’t able to finish high school on time, so I’ll finally be able to finish this school year and get my diploma. There are things that I’ve wanted to do, but because of what I was going through, I didn’t have a chance to experience them before. Now, I’m participating in activities I thought I had missed out on, like going to my prom and going on vacation to see a concert. All these things that I’ve found myself wanting and knowing that I’m capable of achieving. Ultimately, I want to help people. I want to go into nursing or be in the field of mental health. I’m hoping by the end of next year that I’ll be able to start college. I’ve struggled with my mental health and doctors didn’t really care to help. I want to make a difference for the next person who struggles like I did. Pay it forward. Honestly, I don’t think I’d be able to be where I am without the shelter and the support I received from The PLACE. I’m totally capable of doing it on my own, but The PLACE, and the caring adults who commit themselves to helping young people like me, helped me get to where I am today and I am grateful. Thank you all for supporting this incredibly important work.
